A MATTER OF ENERGY
PARSHA
NOAH 07
“Go into the Tevah ark you and all your household” (Gen.7.1)
The term Tevah – ark, also means word. With this in mind, R Moshe of Kobrin commented, ‘Whenever you utter a holy word, be it a word of Torah or of prayer, put every fibre of your body, both heart and soul into it’.
On hearing this, someone asked, ‘How can a person who is great enter into a small word?’
‘We do not even consider anyone who regards himself greater than a sacred word’, responded the Rebbe. (Mimaayanot Hanetzah)
The energies of a single divine word are sufficient to generate a whole universe. Even though a human being is a universe in microcosm, he may never be greater than the potential of his original conception. The goal of every person on earth should be to fulfil their potential, and he or she who progresses no more than a little beyond the halfway mark is a Tzaddik – righteous, like Noah!
