“The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel” (Gen.32.32)

The sun rose upon him. Every person should consider that the sun rises for him alone and for no-one else. The whole world has been created for his sake.

As a consequence a great responsibility rests upon each person. He alone carries the world on his shoulders. He alone has to decide what to build and what to destroy. He alone determines whether the universal scale tips towards the pan of merit or the pan of liability. (Beoholah Shel Torah)

You may be carrying the burden of the world upon your shoulders, but heaven rests upon your head. Heaven is elevating and uplifting. The spirit of heaven acquired through the ways of Torah and the practice of good deeds lightens the load.

It enables you to get up each morning with the rising sun, to stand erect and greet the new day with joy and thankfulness to Hashem for his blessed light.
